Default '01 Overhead console map light switch repair

1st off I have to apologize for not thinking ahead and taking pics of the whole procedure. Finished the repair before thinking about it. Anyway;

The symptom was pushing on the map light lense to turn it on and having the light cease functioning, aka it did not return to the extended position.
The problem is that the switch has two pieces that are pressed together and held in place with pins that catch from one piece to the other. The pins break with age/heat and the switch pops apart.
The solution was to use JB Weld to hold the reassembled switch together. Pics were taken after repair (sorry).
The first step was to reassemble the switch and then clamp the switch together. Make sure to use a spacer or the pin assembly will be compressed to far and will stick (don't ask me how I know). Then use JB Weld along the seam between the 2 halves.

Once that has had a chance to cure remove the clamp and cover the rest of the switch. Be sure to keep the face that fits in the mounting slot on the bracket clean or it will not slide on.

FYI the bulb number for the map light is 906 and is not in the owners manual. It is embossed on the inside of the console adjacent to the bulb. As the bulbs run fairly hot I am contemplating changing the map light bulbs and dome light bulb to LED's (not cheap). Sometimes on long road trips the wife will use the map light to read by and it makes the lense mighty hot. The heat will yellow the clear plastic over time.

Hope this may help somebody at least a little bit.
