About a week later I noticed an article in the newspaper about the Fed. gov. not allowing that brake fluid to be sold in the US any longer.
Don't know what brands you're using, but could possibly be a factor although I doubt if you can even get an inferior brand anymore like we did.
Plus I think these trucks are meant to use DOT 3, not DOT 4 (what he stated he is using). Though I am sure DOT 4 will be fine to use, I think I would have stuck with DOT 3 fluid.

DOT 3 is best for these trucks, I was advised not to go with DOT 4. I have bleed the brakes on my truck many a time, and have found out they like to be bleed with the motor running, I get much better results this way. It's odd that it likes to be run when doing this job.

what is it about DOT 4 that makes it inferior? why would DOT 3 be better? doesn't DOT 4 supersede DOT 3 in the same manor atf +4 supersedes atf +3?

It subercedes DOT 3 but these trucks are optimized for DOT3, or something like that

i did a google search for the difference between dot3 and dot4. i read a little about the technical details that 4 absorbs less moisture, is slightly thicker, and has a little bit different chemistry, but generally, dot4 replaces dot3. considering that our brakes are pretty much the same parts that dodge used in 1970, i'd say either will work the same.

the last time i bled mine, the front calipers bled out freely like they should. they rear cylinders sort of trickled out like there was a swollen up prostate in the way.

Well, I looked around the bleeder screws and saw some fluid seeping. The front only, not the back bleeders. they were fine, I called Summit Racing because I thought they were defective and sure enough, Summit's sending me a new pair to replace the old ones on the house. Summit is great. They don't give me crappy attitudes like Jegs. I'll check back to let you all know if it worked or not. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Changed the bleeders screws...again. And the problem is still there. I did, however, notice that the master cylinder was leaking from the reservor grommets. This is a 3 year old BRAND NEW MC. I'm thinking that air is getting in threw the grommets. What do you guys think.
