Replacing stock sized tires with stock size and have a question
My 2wd had 225s stock, they sucked in every way. I put a leveling kit on it and 265s, and the power loss is noticeable but not bad at all (still burns them from a dead stop easily), and i still got just under 17mpg last fill up.
edit: btw, the pic in my sig is with the leveling kit and 225s

I have a 2001 2wd with 225s. It's what the tag said, it's what was on it when I replaced them. I wasnt going to mess with it.
If its your daily driver and you don't tow/haul/live in an extreme climate.... Try taller and thinner tires. We put some 265/60s on my wife's Durango over the stock 245/75. You lose a bit of traction, but that just means lower rolling resistance so higher mpgs. Along with changing the O2 sensors and tune up, she jumped from 11mpg to 17... Averaged 21.2 on a long trip fully loaded down with camping gear.

Brilliant.
i realize I am in the wrong section but could not find the one i needed. I would like fellow dodge input on a question burning in my mind. i would like new rims and tires and have had no luck finding any to offset my 1999 dodge 1500 Laramie to a wider stance. what is the stock backspace and offset. Also what is recommended offset/backspace to achieve 1.5-2'' wider for aggression. What is the largest tire i can go with the backspace/offset stated above with no lift. also have narrowed it down to the kelly safari tsr and the wild country mtx...... thoughts and opinions please.
All depends on how you intend to use your truck I guess.

Stock aluminum wheel specs
Lug Pattern - 5 on 5.5", 1/2" bolt
Rim Size - 16x7.0"
Offset - +13.97mm
Backspace - 5"
Max Tire Size -285/75R16
Stock aluminum wheels and 285/75R16 3” lift this set-up rubbed on the control arms at full lock.
With any of these following wheels offset/backspacing the tire and wheels will be outside the fenders. The further out you go with the rim/tire the more stress is put on the unit bearings and ball-joints. The Dana 44 will support a 35” tire but it’s just hard on parts…very hard on parts and tires for that matter. 33 is best really no more.
Eagle Alloy series 185 with this rim I ran a 285/75R16 and a 315/75R16 tire no rubbing, 3” lift and up.
16.0x8.0
Offset -11
BS 4.000
Ion Alloy 171 315/75R16 tire no rubbing.
16x10
Offset -38
BS 4.00
Currant wheel Black Iron Outcast to go along with the Dana 60’s, 315/75R16 tire no rubbing.
16x8.5
Bolt pattern 8x6.5
Offset -6
BS 4.5
