Default Reg oil vs synthetic oil

2000 dodge ram 1500 2wh dr 108,100k Ok.. I'm getting ready to change my oil and what would be the best motor is still strong, and gas mileage is still really good. But I was curious about if I should switch over to the synthetic vs reg oil..
I appreciate all the feed back.

Just stick with regular. It's cheaper and that is what these engines were designed to use.

+1 - I use regular oil in all of my engines. If you change the oil and filter at regular intervals, you should have no issues. I've never lost a motor to an oil related failure and most daily driven motors I have have gone well over 200,000 miles.

I am a firm believer in Syntetic oils. Ran Mobil 1 fully syntetic off road truck oil in my ram ever since it came off the showroom floor and did a complete rebuild of the engine, took it all the way down to the block. You could still see the hone marks in the cylinders with zero scoring and there was zero carbon build up on the pistons or in the head. My plenum looked good too, but I replaced it with a new gasket anyways. Zero sludge in the engine and this is with 114,000mi on the engine at the time. I change my oil myself every 5,000-7,000mi (oil is rated for 7,000) and the truck still runs great.
