Default dash problems

First of all I would like to say thank god for this forum. I was able to solve a problem in one day that has baffled garage after garage for over a year, and now my dash doesnt look so much like christmas tree with all the pretty lights. I have two questions that I havent seen in this forum yet. 1. I installed a new dash with a tach to replace my old one without a tach. The odometer now says "no bus". How do I go about resetting this odometer? 2. Also with my new dash, the seat belt light comes on when I have my seat belt on, and goes off when I have my seat belt off. I know the easy fix to this is give it the old snip snip, but I am just wondering why it does this? Any thoughts?

Was the dash out of the same year vehicle?

I'm thinking you may have some wirring harness issues.

resurrected

im thinking of swapping my cluster for the one that has the tach. but before i pulled mine and bought the one with the tach, i want to know if it's just plug-n-play. ive read that the 94-97 is that way, but havent confirmed about the 98-01. i have a 99 with the digital odometer, and also wanted to know how to get the mileage to read the same as the old cluster.

can it be done with a programmer, or is that something the dealer has to do? is there a seperate "brain" for it, you just swap over? TIA!
