Throw a quart in and see where that gets you.

Might be 1.5-2 qts, but put one in for now.

You need to figure out where it's going though.

To be honest, you can never really have TOO much ATF+4.

You might need it for SOMETHING (ie, steering box, buddies truck, etc).

You did check the fluid level with motor running and tranny in neutral right?

Yes, running,in neutral. Also ran through the gears. The truck is new to me. I did not check the level when I bought. I checked color and smell, but not level.

I will have to watch it. No wet spots on transmission,or ground. No leaks. But for all I know it was never checked by last owner. Last owner was in her 80's and bet she wasn't on to check it often or at all. Actually added 2.5 quarts total. Added another 1/2 quart to bring it up to perfect on dip stick.

It's a little late now, but since it was new to you and low, you should have dropped the pan. Adjusted the bands, replaced the filter and put 4 quarts back in.
