Default rear main bearing cap

I Was Just Wondering If AnyoneCould Tell me If The Rear Main Seal Bearing Cap Bolts Are Reverse Thread Or Not. I'm Having Trouble Getting It Of To Replace The Rear Main Seal. Any Help Would Be Very Much Appreciated. Thank You. It's A 97 1500 With The 5.9 Gas.

The two bolts holding the main cap onto the block are standard thread and are torqued to around 85 ft./lbs. When using hand tools, a long breaker bar and socket should remove them with a bit of muscle. If you have an impact wrench with an impact socket, that's even better.

+1. standard thread. apply more muscle.

you will likely need to loosen all the caps and allow the crank to drop down just a smidgen, in order to get the old seal out and the new in. it has to slide in easily to prevent damage.

then retorque caps using proper seq back to 85.
