Does anyone have any info or tips for the removal of a steering wheel? The steering wheel in my 99 2500 is in pretty crappy shape. So I bought one off ebay. I have replaced steering wheels on other vehicles I have owned, so I'm not afraid to do the work. But I usually read up on any things to watch for, but I didn't see anything in the DIY section when I searched.

So, does anyone have any pointers on things to watch for? Or is it pretty self explanatory as other steering wheels?

 

make sure there is no power to the airbag on the wheel before you start pulling it.

it's been a while since I did mine but iirc, you may need a special puller to remove the wheel b/c it's splined onto the column.

airbag first, then pull the wheel.

Yeah. I'm so paranoid about the air bag going off. So I always wait a long time after disconnecting the battery. The last one I did, I also pulled the air bag fuse too. I just didn't know if there was anything that I should look for that wasn't "the norm", lol.

It's the only wheel I've ever pulled and I thought it was pretty straight forward.
