It's a good time to replace your water pump, thermostat and bypass hose too if they have a lot of miles on them.

spray the old set off with brake cleaner to find the marks (not the position of the keyways). unbolt the old and remove, do NOT rotate the engine, slide on the new.

no need to remove the dist cap.
the hardest part is removing the large crank bolt and holding the engine from turning. air wrench works best.
when using the harmonic balance puller, reinstall the crank bolt to protect the oh-so-precious threads.
take your time. double check everything.

doesn't the crank bolt come off before the harmonic balncer is removed?

yes it does.

but the puller will push on the end of the crankshaft which is hollow, and if the bolt is removed, the puller can get into the threads and screw them up. loosely thread the crank bolt back in, and let the puller push on the bolt head. it can't screw that up.

i think i had the crank bolt screwed in during that picture just so i could hold it while i torqued the cam bolt, and also to rock the engine back and forth and recheck the alignment.

yes.
crank bolt is tight, something like 135 pounds.
cam bolt is normal, don't quote me, maybe 40-50-60 pounds.

there's only 2 ways to screw up the job.
1. screw up the threads in the end of the crank.
2. rotate the engine with chain off and get it out of time.

so I just have to loosen the crank bolt and then inch out the harmonic balncer and keep the chain on whenever I can
