Default 4x4 problem

I have a 2001 5.9L 1500 and when I put it in 4H I hear a clicking sound when I turn and have no turning radius. I know 4x4 limits your radius, but I can only go straight or barely not straight. I know it isn't u-joints as I replaced those about 5k miles ago and the brakes are fairly new. Its only when turning too, 4x4 is perfect when going straight. Help?

clicking is probably u-joints in the front drive shaft. which did you replace - driveshaft or axle?

reduced turning radius is normal. our trucks are part time 4wd with no center differential.

If your using 4wd on dry pavement it will be a lot harder to turn and will bind and is not good. Usually clicking would be u joints, check to see if there is any play in them.

Do you have lockers by chance? My buddy had a problem kinda like what your describing and the problem was that the locker wasnt engaging all the way.

It was axle u-joints will go check on driveshaft u-joint. Hopefully something else because I really hate fixing u-joints.

How would you fix that if it is the problem, and how do you tell if that's the problem in the first place?

Any slop at all in the u-joints, replace them, there's no other way. If they're clicking, it's time.

Aside from the other good comments already, does your rig have mods to it? Are we talking all stock?

What surface/terrain were you on? Were you on level ground?
