Default 98 Ram SS/T belt and noises

I have two problems...any help is appreciated.

1). A humming(with light vibrating) noise during accelaration when over 1500 rpms. It seems the truck is struggling to accelarate but its not.

2). When cold, the click click on the belt tensioner. It moves the belt off the track one notch. I turn it off, and the belt goes back in place. This started when I replaced the belt not long ago. I replaced the belt again and same problem. Is it the tensioner pulley, belt, etc?

72k miles
5.9 V8

Thanks in advance

no idea about the hum .... but the belt tensioner pully might be warped and when the engine is started the spring compresses slightly (to keep propper amount of tension) and it may kik the belt out of alighnment ... which will cause you to eat up belts and cause strange noises... really easy inexpensice fix. got to autozone or advanced and order the pull assembly. not just the pully... the tensioner assy. is the tensioner arm with the sprin and the pully mounted on it .. its just one nut you take off and assy. slides out of the mount on the block and put the new one in... get a hanyes...tells you how to do it... hope this helps. i had to do it on mine b/c the bearins in the pully were shot and started to squel .. thats after 3 new gator back belts... goodluck!!! post your finding for others to learn from.

Was replacing the belt and notice the water pump pulley has some play(movement). This could be the cause of both problem. I will have it replace and see what happens.

yea any abnormal play in the belt drive system would cause odd noises to start. start at what is obvious and commonly out of sense and work your way up... that how i trouble shoot my crap
