how dirty is my rear differential case?

Cleaning the transfer case and found these metal shavings pictured on the lower left, first picture. How bad is this diff?

Can't tell what you are talking about from your pictures. Just take a picture of the metal shavings if you can. Put them on a piece of white paper maybe?
If it is so little that we can't see it in the pictures then most likely you're fine.

(Theyre a little dirty). About a nickles worth of shavings that I think came off the housing instead of the gears.
