I own a 1999 ram 5.9l,magnum, 2wd. The past couple days I have had a whining noise from sounds like the torque converter, I started driving and it wouldn't shift into overdrive then just quit all together all at once, the Trans fluid now is a little dark... Any suggestions???

 

Welcome to DF! My suggestion would be to drop the pan for an inspection. Possibly rebuild time if it wont move at all.

 

sorry to say, but your transmission is probably one of the one's in this video. unless its something real simple, like the band has come loose, then its probably rebuild time. try to find a local shop with a good reputation. where are you? if you're anywhere near charleston SC go see Robert Griffin.
