Default Create a serene river for your driving experience!!!!

Whats up erbody?

I noticed the other day my temp went up a little, then found that my water pump was kinda pissin a stream. Just happened to have a 2 year old bottle of Bars Heavy Duty and poured it in, then topped off my radiator. Within 3 minutes it stopped the leak. I understand Bars is just a temporary fix, I'm picking up a new water pump in a week to throw on. Thing is, almost instantly after I put it in, now it sounds like a river is flowing behind my dash ANYTIME I'm on the gas. When I accelerate, so does the water, if I'm steady cruizin, so is the water. I know I could just pick up some aroma-therapy candles to throw on the dash to make it complete so I can get a nice sleep while I drive, but instead I turn up the radio like a good citizen. What did the Bars do to make this noise?

Thanks

It sounds like you have an air pocket in the cooling system and your hearing the coolant passing through the heater core because of it.

Yup. The water trickling sound results from air being trapped in the cooling system...jack the front of the truck up and let it run with the rad cap off...that usually will let the air escape after a while. If it was me...i'd totally flush the cooling system when i changed the water pump to get rid of that barr's stuff...I dont trust things floating around in my engine!

You've got some bad air bubbles trapped in your heater core or in the system somewhere. Does your temp gauge fluctuate above and below the normal mark often? that's another sign.

+1 on park the truck with the front end up. with engine cold and radiator cap off, run the engine until the tstat opens up. then top off and rev it a few times to flush the air out of the heater hoses and core.
