yup that would be it... too bad your not closer, i'd let you borrow mine so you can try it first. I was just talking to a co-worker about this subject and he agreed that simple changes can do a lot. I told him about my hiway 80 experiences (25' to 7500' climb) with the old and new filters and basiclly with the old filter i'd have to downshift to keep or accellerate going up the hills to being able to accellerate slightly in od with the new filter...

one thing to mention though, you will have to mod your mounting brackets for the heat shield. it will have to be moved back slightly because the neck on that filter is not as long as the stock K&N filter that comes with the kit. look at the specs and you'll see what I mean. this proved to be a simple fix.

well worth the bux for it in my opinion...

I think I will try that out. If it works for me, I can just use it when I am going to be towing (as long as my low end isn't comprimised to much). That would be a quick 2 minute swap when I wanted to use it. Thanks for the suggestion.

you will notice a slight low end loss but the gains on the upper end will be worth it. gas milage did not suffer from the swap with the setup that I had.

That filter is $45 on Summit, so I might wait until after I do the 1.7's. They might help some, and if so, I might not need the filter, so I can save $45.

A 7" (or 9") S&B powerstack would be an even better filter choice. The 7" flows like a 9" cone, and the 9" flows like a 12"

who are you trying to kid? Reed, you know your gonna feel more power with the 1.7's but now that you've heard about the 7x9" filter, your gonna get one eventually... so just go get it now and get it over with... [sm=icon_stickpoke.gif] it rocks! [sm=icon_rock.gif]

Think it will have the same results on a 5.2 as it does on your 5.9? I think they breath different. Bet I will lose a lot of low end.

Also, you have the modified kegger intake, but your not happy with it right? Why is that again?

My jeep with the 318 screams right now. I run in the 14s in the 1/4mi with stock heads, cam, gears, and 104k on the clock. I am doing a cam swap with the KRC 210x cam, new valve vody, 2800 stall TC, and 1.6RR. I will do heads down the road but that will be with a rebuild engine, tranny, and transfer case. Before you rip apart your motor get it breathing and exhaling better. Headers, exhaust, intake and TB. Then go for roller rockers and then cam, heads, ect. Once you start going faster it is never enough. I told myself that I would not mod the jeep and now I am looking at investing a total of 12-15 grand into a SUV that I paid 6 grand for. Sounds stupid but once you get bit by the mod bug then it spreads like a wild fire.

My previous vehicle was a 5.0L Ranger and you just get addicted to speed and it doesn't help when all your friends have vettes, Cobras, Z28 Camaros

I have an itch to do a LS1 swap into the m3... probably would never happen but think about it. 400 hp, motor weighs 40 lbs more than the m3 motor, swap the hood for a CF and your back to stock weight with an extra 160 hp... oh yeah... but 1 project at time...
