I may try to find a 2nd gen truck. What should i look for that are problems. I know dash is bad and have heard that auto are problems. Is the auto trans the same ones used in Daktota's? I want a 4x4 extended cab. What motors was in what yrs an how are those motors? thanks

it always depends on how you treat the vehicle check the 4x4 and make sure it works i havent had any problems with my auto trans but its like anything else either you get a good one or you dont i love my 5.9 great sound and lots of top end the 5.2 is a great pulling motor and always has been. check all u joints brake lines. tread differences you can tell how a truck has been treated in the tread most of the time. stay away from any trans problems even with manuals like a grinding into gears check springs shocks axles and all seals you can think of. smell the tranny fluid in most cases you can tell if its burnt usually not good make sure you check auto trans in neutral and idle check switches windows, cruise, lights don't hesitate if you think it needs checked check it.
