cummins: vacuum slowww to develop, recharge
96 Ram 2500 cummins:
after panic stop or at cold start , vacuum is very slow to develop
cold start: vacuum gauge is flat zero for 3 to 4 seconds after starting, then rises slowly to over 25 in Hg, over 20 to 30 seconds. The 25 part is fine, the slow part not so much
This truck stops very well with very very little pedal pressure, after:
have installed new master cylinder, check valve and vac. supply hose, rebuild vacuum assist unit, rblt. RWAL valve, checked and corrected all vacuum leaks to all branches of the vacuum system.
when vac. gauge is direct on vac. pump is shoots immediately to normal 24 in Hg. vacuum. when started.
Is such a slow recovery from panic stop and also initial vacuum charge up normal ???
Some say it is.
