Long story short, I did not use the seal adapter I went with another xcase that has a longer input snout on it

I found this thread on pavementsucks, didn't quite understand how the adapter worked initially, but it looks like an extension piece that is tapped into the trans that spaces the seal out an amount equal to the thickness of the indexing ring. Is this correct?

Yes that what the seal adapter does.

Yeah it is pricy...if you could give me the scoop on this double lip seal I might go the cheaper route and buy the trans adapter (if required) separately and pick up a ring similar to yours with multiple adjustments. The skyjacker kit, like you said, is pricy and almost twice what you can piece it together for.
The double lip seal must still be used with the seal adapter and I am not sure it will work with that adapter as the new seal has a diff housing or casing.

How are you making out by clearancing the cardan joint?

Default Rear drive shaft vibration

I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 I have a 7in lift 5 inch suspension and 2 inch body I just installed the 5 in. When I am running about 70 mph amd left off the the gas I have a hell of a wailing noise coming from my rear drive shaft where the slip yoke goes into the transfer case. The truck was already lifted 5 in I had no drive shaft issues at all. Do I need to get my drive shaft rebalanced?
