Default Trip odometer ??

Today I notice my trip odometer reset to zero because I unhooked the battery and turned on the head lights to reset the "Check Engine" light. Am I wrong in thinking the trip odometer should have a memory just like the odometer or is there a problem that I should look into ?

It gets reset with everything else when you disconnect the battery...nothing to worry about
