97 ram sst trans
can anyone tell me what trans is in a 97 ram SST with a 5.9l and why is it reving in gear and then launching evey time i stop as long as i am going down the road it is fine when i stop it revs to about 2300 rpms and then takes off like crazy the trans is making a growl and has a slight grinding sound when i am going

If this is an automatic transmission, it should be a 46RE transmission in your truck. Is your truck 2WD or 4WD? Automatic transmissions in 2nd gen Dodge trucks are known to have issues - check out the transmission tips thread here:
