I'm looking to replace my Dodge 46RE with a 3 speed hydraulic version, but need a starter on the passenger side.

I know the Jeep 44RE/46RE has the starter on the passenger.

Looks like I'd need an A727 trans for this. Or try to build a 904 to live behind a warmed over 5.9.

Are all Dodge transmissions driver side starters?

 

Just our of curiosity why do you want a 3 speed? Anything can be done but it'd be completely custom and I'm sure the PCM will be one of the biggest problems

 

I'm going race my TJ, and don;t need a 4th gear anymore. I'd like a hydraulic trans for simplicity and the 3 speed being shorter.

I was just going to have SCT load me up with a manual trans tune.
