cold idle should be about 1000, slowly dropping to about 600.

other than physically cleaning the well and pintle of any obvious huge deposits or plugged up hole in the bottom of the well - i gave up cleaning the IAC a long time ago. just replace it with one with a lifetime warranty from Advance or elsewhere and it'll be the last one you ever have to buy.
if that doesn't fix it, replace TPS. they have a complex interaction.

I once had a bad TPS that caused my cold idle to surge up and down between 1500 and 1000.

Thanks guys. Was in a hurry and forgot to disconnect bat - and reset cpm but cleaned it good and so far it idols normal Will reset pcm in the morning just in case. Now next on my agenda is i think overdrive gear is going out. Around 70mph if you accelerate it feels like the tranny makes some noise and funky stuff but as soon as you let off its fine. Will experiment more with OD off tomorrow.

Agreed, so far idling is normal. If it acts up in the near future I will just replace with new lifetime warrantied IAC. Also drove it to work on the freeway with OD off and it didn't seem to bog/make noise when accelerating around 65-70. I could step on it and nothing... Will keep testing but is it possible OD gear is going out?

Nvm: read tranny diagnostic sticky and its most likely OD clutch acting up.
