If my truck is in park and the trans oil is drained with the pan off, can I put the key in the ignition and without starting the truck put the truck into neutral without messing anything up? I have to drop the valve body and im afraid the park rod will not come out of the sprag if the truck is in park...

It'll come out.

But it is perfectly fine to key it up and shift it. Make sure the park brake is on and/or the wheels are blocked.
