Exclamation Wheel Bearing?

So, I was driving from work today to the bank and I noticed some rubbing sound from the driver front wheel, it sounded like the brake pads were bad. So I went out and bought the new pads, but upon driving home from my preferred parts store, I lost steering and my brakes doing roughly 35 mph but coincidentally, right in front of O'Riellys Auto. I managed to steer my truck into their parking lot and called for a tow. So all in all, I'm curious as to what you guys think what it could be. I think it's the wheel bearing but here's the pictures attached of how bad it is.

I'd like some suggestions before my brother and I tear into it please.

Oh and specs are in the signature

Well, crawl under there and look. Almost looks like your lower ball joint broke.

Offf topic. I saw on a craigslist ad that a guy said ball joints were 5 dollars a piece on these trucks LOL

Lol, those are NO WHERE near 5 bucks a piece. But I hope it isn't. I did get underneath of it but it didn't look broken. I noticed that my UJoint on that side was metal on metal with the frame around it. I did take a look closely at the wheel hub with the tire on and it does look like the wheel bearing did give way. It did mostly make A LOT of noise when I was backing up. But I don't know.

I agree with HamBone. I'd say lower ball joint. Could be that your hub fell apart as well. To remove the hub, you need a 1 11/16" socket. I've got 190,000 on my hubs, my front passenger is pretty bad, very wobbly wheel. I plan on replacing it as soon as I have time.

Based upon the pictures and description, I'd bet on a failed hub bearing and U-joint. Looks like the brake caliper is keeping the wheel from completely coming off the truck.

At 180,000 miles, if the ball joints have never been done, this will certainly be the time to take care of them, too.

The UJoint is actually tight on it. It always has been. But I do think it is either the ball joint or wheel bearing. I gotta look at it when I get off work still
