Default Finally picked up an intake manifold...

I finally picked up an intake manifold today from a wrecking yard. I'll be swapping that in when I do the lifters. this should bring the power band back down to stock, the one that I modded back in May pushed it up a little too high for a 4x4 QC (it screams above 3500 rpms...) so I'm gonna start from scratch and make little adjustments to it.

So, by December I should have the ported kegger off and will probably sell it if anyone is interested. It should be used on a 2x4 or a standard cab 4x4 truck. one that is lighter than a 4x4 QC.

Steve, When you have it off, would you mind taking pics of the insides of both the new one (unmodified), and your current one that is modified. I keep hearing of "modified keggers", but not really sure what is being modified, and how.

Good luck. [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

Reid, go to page 5 on my car domain site, pic #1 has a good before and after of 1 runner cut and 1 not cut. then the lip on the inside of the TB bores is removed. I'm not sure if it's recommended to do that cut or not but I did it anyway. to see what i'm talking about look at the center of the tb opening and on the right side of the bridge is a small lip. on the 2nd pic, the lip is gone (and note that the manifold is 180 deg rotated from the other pic.

the runners that are in the farthest front were done by a shop. it took them way to long to make it cost affective to do so he stopped. sure looked nice though. I used a roto zip with a cuttoff wheel. that worked really well to cut the runners down. then I used some polishing bits to clean it up as best as I could. I also smoothed the runners on the edges back about 1/2" to make the transition into the runner as smooth as possible.

also take a look at the injector bores... those get cleaned up as well. that, I'll be doing to this manifold for sure, the runners are going to be left stock for now.

still un-decided if I put both manifold and lifters on at the same time, or do 1 at a time... cost for the intake gaskets would be the difference in $.
