Default Fluid Help

I need to check the fluid in my rear diff. but i dont know how to check it...Thats reminds me i need to check the tranny too.If someone can help i would love it.

The old rule of thumb (or pointer finger in this case) is to take the plug out and stick your finger in the hole and bend it down. If the fluid is up to the first joint, you're good. Or if fluid comes out of the plug when you take it out...that's also a sign that it's good. [8D]

As far as checking the tranny fluid, just follow these steps:
1. Move the truck to level ground and leave the engine running.
2. Set the parking brake and place the the transmission in neutral
3. Check the fluid level once the truck has been running for a few minutes with the transmission in neutral.

crawl under the truck (from the rear) look at diff housing- plug is offset to the right just below axle level. you cannot miss it, rubber plug, just grab ahold and pull it out.

if u decide to swap the fluid, I recommend Red Line 75W90, and pulling off the diff cover as aposed to syponing the old fluid out.
