"check engine" light
Bought a truck in June ('99 ram 4x4 qc 5.9) first it had the plenum, got that fixed. It shook like it had a misfire during that problem, after it was fixed it still shook and the "check engine" light came on "cylinder 8 misfire", local mechanic thought it was a fuel related problem, so (under warranty) brought it back to the dealer and he replaced the injector and cleaned the fuel rail. Soon, after the "check engine" light came back on with same problem, but i think that the injector helped it because it now has a more healthy ro throaty exhaust tone, but still shook and light came on. Brought it back to the dealer, he brought it to the Dodge Dealership and they worked on it for hours and could not find anything wrong with it??? Any ideas???
Thanks
Thanks
My truck is doing that right now and I had it diagnosed as a misfire on #6. Check the passenger side of the engine, and I bet there are signs of oil along the bottom of the head. If your truck is like mine, the intake gasket is failing. Mine rumbles, idles rough, etc. I only drive when necessary, but when I get some money next month I am going to replace the intake gasket and pan and also have my heads worked. I wouldn't be surprised if I have a burnt valve in #6.
STEVE00RAM360, the "check engine" light went off just before i brought it up there. THe guy said that it did not throw any codes, but it should still store them after the light goes off right?
