I recently purchased a 2002 ram 1500 for towing my boat because my Dakota trashed out on me. The guy I bought the truck from has 305/55/20 s on it with 20" monster xd rims. Im turning 2100 rpms at 60mph without the boat. With the boat it feels like its ******* out turning 2800-2950 rpms at 60 mph. Boat is a 20 ft polar flat bottom skiff, with single axle trailer. I am wondering if there was something I could do to allow to truck to run easier while towing this medium load? Possibly gearing?

Truck also has cold air intake, and flowmeter dual exhaust.

 

This 4.7 seems to running harder than my v6 dakota sxt ever did while towing.
