Up grade your valve springs, at least MOPAR .525 and matching retainers.

Keep the stock intake manifold for best torque, shorties are not worth the expense, but the stock Y pipe is a plug in the exhaust, fix that and if you can, ditch the cat.

I had a shelf of parts to put on my 98 2500 Ram, R/T heads, Pacesetter LTs, 1.7 Harland Sharps...After I got the tranny rebuilt with a better converter it pulls so much better I sold everything, not needed.

Beware of the 4.10s, I have some for the Dana 60 in my Ram (3.55s now) but the rear end guy talked me out of it, reason being I tow at 65 mph right in the sweet spot with the OD off, 4.10s would have sucked, I'd have to either slow down or tow with the OD on...Bad idea.

You might run out what you can tow legally before you run out of power with a 1500.

^ I think being able to stop the load is more important then having the power to tow the load...

Dana 60 swap! (With 4.10s)

Best thing I've ever done to my truck. Absolutely love the gears. My mileage has gone up +2ish because of it.

I have 3.55 gears now, and while I'd love it pull from a dead stop better while towing my Drag Dakota, I'd hate the rpms the 4.10s would do to me at 65-70 with OD off. If I didn't tow...The 4.10s would have been in long ago.

You're no fun.

But yeah I agree, a good controller helps.

Which converter did you use? I was thinking about step up to 3.73 gears.

I'd have to look, I got it locally from the shop that rebuilt the tranny.

Trust me, I'd like it to pull a little harder off the line while towing, but once on the Interstate...It's all good.
