Default 2001 ram 1500 front end question

Hello everybody. I'm from milwaukee wi. I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 laramie slt 4x4 . I just bought this truck with 113k . Previous Owner said it needs alignment and stuff. But I found out that truck got hit from front driver side wheel . They changed the rim and kept driving. I found out that axle housing is bent . And whole front end went bad . So I found a guy with a 1997 ram 4x4 and bought the front whole front end. Then after that found out some parts changed in 1998 and 2000. I'm going to replace tie rods, ball joints , u joints .My question is , is it possible to use 97 axle housing ? And are the parts im going to buy should be for 2001 or 1997 ? I already know that sway (stabilizer) bar and link connections are not same . But possible to connect them or replace it with 97 . I will appreciate any help or suggestions.

Should be able to use it. Just buy 97 ball joints. Are they even different?

I would imagine the tie rod ends are the same.

I read something about 00 and 01 distance between knuckles are wider than other 2nd gen. So if I buy 01 tie rods it might not fit with 97 housing or if I buy 97 tie rods it might not fit pitman arm. And ball joinys for 97 should be good I think.

I think the taper was different actually. Maybe.....

You just need 97 tie rod ends. 01 tre at the pitman arm.

Are you using 97 linkage assembly? Or the 01?

I removed almost everything just left the pitman arm . Im going to use 97 housing ,knuckles, hubs . And going to purchase track bar, tie rod ends, drag link , sway bar links, , damper. I think you can call this parts steering linkage . What I understood is this parts should be 1997.

There is something about adapting that is good. Sometimes it can work out and sometimes it's more of a pain. I think the rotor size and such will be different. You should compare all those things.

Buying all the steering linkage and such, assuming new, will be around $3-400. I did it a few years back.

If you're not to far into it, then sell all that 97 stuff back or part out and check out my sig for axles with 4.10s that will bolt straight into you. Just another option for you. I have a shipper here that will not be crazy. If you have forklift access, then even better.

Thank you for your offer . Seems pretty hard to ship. And little over my budget. But I will keep in mind . I'm just trying to figure out the different parts so I can order them. Thank you
