01 1500 dies won't start
Hi, I'm new here so I don't know if this is were this is sopposed to be or if this is how you do it, but here goes! OK, I have an 01 ram 1500, the other day it died on me when I came to a stop, it fired right up again when I turned the key, it died two more times coming to a stop and once when is was ideling, then I parked it when I went to start it it would not start. About the time I thought it wasn't going to start I heard a click and a hum, I turned the key and it started, this happened two more times, any ideas?
Thanks!!! |
Will it start if you give it just a bit of gas?
|
if you mean by stepping on the gas pedal, no, the only way it will start again is if it sets awhile, and like I said I heard a click twice, then it started, not sure if it did it the other times and I didn't here it what. I couldn't tell were it came from. it's going to the shop Monday to get a wheal bearing replaced maybe they can figure it out, I was hoping someone on here might know of something and save on the repair bill.

Fuel pump ?.
|
I don't think so, when you first turn the key you can here the fuel pump come on. Does anyone think it might be a cam sensor?

I would check the crankshaft position sensor, they can go bad with age and cause the problems your having.

How would I check that, do you have to have special tools, IE scan tool? |
Go to the FAQs section at the top of the page, down load the service manual for your year truck. The information you need to check things will be in there.

OK, maybe I'm just stupid but I couldn't find anywhere to find a manual in the faq
