STOCK FUEL PRESSURE?
Hey quick question, my 97 ram 1500 5.9 is running a little rich and im trying to lean it out, im gonna put on an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and take some fuel out. anybody done this and have any tips> also what is stock fuel presure set at? thanks
Wow,most people are looking for more fuel!Sounds to me like you have another problem somewhere. I am not sure on 1997's but if your 02 sensor is on the cat and your cat is "hollow" your sensor may be dysfunctional or maybe damaged. Did you hollow it out or what happened? Sounds like you may be running "open loop mode" maybe.
YEAH REPLACED THE CAT AND PUNCHED IT COMPLETLY HOLLOW. I DO BELIEVE THE O2'S ARE BAD BUT IT IS RUNNING REAL RICH. I HAVE O2'S BEFORE AND AFTER THE CAT. I DONT THINK JUST REPLACING THOSE WOULD BE ENOUGH. BUT HEY, I COULD BE WRONG. DO YOU HAPPEN TO KNOW ABOUT CHANGING THE AFPR? THANKS AGAIN.
49 psi +/- 2 psi. you have a returnless fuel system and you'd have to change it over to get an adjustable up on the fuel rail. there is a company that makes an in line programable regulator but it's on the expensive side at $400+ bux. Aeromotive I think is who makes it.
as for running rich, swap the front o2 sensor to start, the rear just monitors cat effeciency.

it should give you enough info to do what you want.

I just installed an AutoMeter electric fuel pressure guage on my 2001 Ram 1500 5.9. I'm getting eratich reading and some times it drops to zero then 60, then 18 and bounces arount a bit. Yes the wires are all grounded and the power suppy is good. I installed the electronic sender unit on the stock fuel rail just aft of the stock test port (LH side) by welding. Anyone have any ideas short of a defective guage or sender unit? Thanks
