Default 01 318 starting issues

My 2001 1500 with a 318 has become increasingly hard to start. A couple of days ago when it was pretty warm (about 0 degrees Celcius) I tried starting my truck for about half an hour with no luck. It would crank over but not fire. Fuel pump seems to be working fine. Battery was just replaced a few months ago. Now all of this led me to believe it was an issue of no spark. But when I left into town in the 08 I plugged in the block heater on my 01 to see what would happen. When i got back and tried to start it about an 3 hours later it started without any trouble. This is what has me confused. It was a warm day (for December in Alberta) so why did I have to plug in the block heater to get my truck started? It was starting fine in the -30 degree weather we had in November. Any Ideas?

Due to the circumstances as they happened , I'd say you has a little H20 in the gas . I'd toss a bottle of gasline antifreeze in the tank . If it happens again , report back .

Yes , very mild Dec for Alberta but it does drop overnight . I'm just 45kms west of Edmonton
