Hi. I recently bought a 2002 ram 2500, "old design", which I guess means 2nd generation. It needs some body work. Does anyone know what kind of steel the body is made from? Can I gas weld new steel onto it or do I have to use the Mig? Thanks.

 

Mig with C02 is what you want . I suggest getting an old fender/door whatever and try a practice run

Depending on what you are doing you can also use panel adhesive, check 3m and Norton for products. Still lots of prep but no heat to cause warpage and a lot less work than welding.
