Pleasantly surprised by trans. temps.
Recently bought a used '97 Ram 2500 to tow my 24ft fifth wheel camper. Reading some of the horror stories on this forum, I was concerned about my truck's 46RE transmission's ability to handle this towing load. So, I installed a new cast aluminum tranny cover with a port for a temp sensor and an A-column mounted Autometer temp. gage. I was pleasantly surprised to see that even when towing, the temp never got over about 130 deg. F. The truck is equipped with the factory aux. tranny cooler in front of the radiator, so apparently everything is working as it should. I love the truck, but that 5.9 V8 is kinda thirsty!

Got it online from PML. Check out http://www.yourcovers.com/tp_9393.shtml
It was kinda pricy, buy really nice quality. Too bad nobody will see it unless I run over 'em <Grin>
