Default 46RH aluminum shavings?

I picked up a used trans the other day and when I went to inspect it I found aluminum shavings. I have found that this could be considered normal wear, governor including the piston and a few other parts. Since I am semi-new to repairing trans, is there any advice where I should look to find where the aluminum is coming from or just freshen in up, clean it out and slap it in the truck?

aluminum shavings is not normal, you'll have to tear it down completely and see where they came from.
