Default Magnet in trans pan

Alright so I have a interesting question that i can't seem to find the answer too.
Recently i was having shifting issues where i would have to downshift or go to neutral to shift into 3rd gear. The trans is a 46re. So I replaced the governor pressure solenoid and transducer the solenoid was clogged with lots of metal shavings. I installed a GM electronic solenoid from PATC with a self cleaning valve. However now its acting up again. The only maintenance that I did was add the trans pan magnet which is located right below the solenoid so Im thinking its drawing in the shards way to close and then the solenoids sucking them in. Should I go back to no magnet in the trans pan which is the same way I bought and kept it for 2yrs? Or relocate the magnet and if so where? And if anyone has had this happen before. thanks

You definitely want the magnet in the pan, just drop anywhere in the floor of the pan but away from the filter so it won't block suction.

There should be a dimple in the oil pan, the doughnut magnet should fit around it.
Another good option is to use rare earth magnets. Their thin and supper strong.

It's on the dimple. That's where it has been.
