Default Question On Plug Wires

To those of you that have 8 or 8.5 mm performance plug wires: I was looking at MSD and Accel wires today, and they are "universal" sets. I haven't found anything tailor made for my truck. I have read on the forums that the wires have to be routed exactly the same as the factory routing, or else you create problems with misfires, etc. Did you guys use the universal sets on your trucks, and can you get them routed correctly with no problem???

I have run into a problem similar to your that I addressed in this thread: https://dodgeforum.com/m_298441/mpag.../tm.htm#298594

I have a misfire on #6, rough idle at warm up, and leaking from under the intake, which I attribute to the intakge gasket being bad. I followed the TSB instructions for plug wire routing here:

here's the p/n for the MSD's MSD-32189 from summit racing. this is what I have on my truck and it's made for the 318/360's. My plug wire routing has not caused me any problems with pinging, however lately I have an aftermarket coil that is not mounted in the stock location.

Steve, are those 8mm wires or 8.5? My local speed shop has 8mm MSD's - that sounds like the same part #. You have the "universal set" right?

nope, those are the 8.5's. have a look on summitracing.com, I could be wrong on the p/n but it looks like the one I used on my truck and they are a custom set.
