Transmission slipping when trying to use 4x4
I have had an issue for a while and can't seem to figure out why.
My 2wd works perfectly fine, but when I try to put my truck into 4x4 high or Lo, it works for a few seconds then slips into nuteral. I put it back in 4x4 and it works for a few more seconds then slips again. After about 4-5 times of doing this it stays in 4x4 forever until I put it back into 2wd. It goes back into 2wd with zero issues. But next time I try to go 4x4 again, it continues to do the same thing, and after about 4-5 times of it slipping, it seems to catch and work fine. Any ideas?

First, make sure the transfer case is full of fluid (ATF). If it's running nearly dry it'll do that. If it's full and doing it, look to just about the end of the transfer case section in your factory service manual for the linkage adjustment procedure. If the case is full and the linkage properly adjusted and it's still acting up, say uh-oh because the other likely culprits are inside the case.
