You are HALF correct! Accel made an adapter, but that was because there was a difference in the coil connections:

The coils sold are pre 1998 connector so if you have a 1998-2002 you need that adapter. OR you can just go to a junkyard and cut it off a perfectly good wiring harness and splice it.

You may be right about a resistance issue. But I never found an adapter. Even called MSD and they said follow the directions where it says to splice it.

YES, mine is the old one I bought in 2001. You have to plug in the RPM chips. NOW they have one that has the RPM limits built into the box. I lost my 5000RPM chip so I either have to go 4K or 6K. I have 6K in there even though I never get close to 6K!!!

I find it interesting that everyone is saying the stock coil is a good unit. I don't remember when or where I say the info but I remember it saying that their were issues with the stock coil which was why I went with the Firepower kit.

If you are going to just do wires, plugs, cap, & rotor then get a minimum of 8mm plug wires and you can go larger. As everyone says the copper type plugs work best. Autolites are said to be some of the preferred. The cap & rotor you get need to be quality units not the basement bargain "Sucks" (shucks auto) brand stuff. Or O'Riley's depending on where you are at. You want brass terminals in the distributor cap.
