Truck wont start in park.
So i have a 95 5.9L dodge ram 1500, It had this issue when i first bought it, Where sometimes you would have to put the shifter into the neutral position in order to start the vehicle. Didnt think much of it as the problem didnt persist( Only happened to me once or twice), But it has been accuring more recently lately and i wanted to know if this is something that i can fix myself before taking it into a shop and paying a ridiculous amount in shop fee's. Any suggestions will help.

Try and wiggle the shifter when it won't start in park. (leave it in park though.) If it starts, might just need to adjust the shift linkage. If it doesn't, try replacing the p/n switch. (it screws into the trans from the outside, right at the shift linkage. Five minute fix.)

I have been looking on the Web for a video to help me figure this out, haven't had any luck.

Got a volt/ohm meter? With the truck in park, unplug the neutral safety switch, and check for continuity across the terminals. Pinout is in the service manual, which can be found here.

Found this little bugger dangling and full of dirt, Im not 100% sure what was going on but the amount of dirt caked under here is obsene. Have spent the last hour or so gently scraping away this crap. Got it fairly cleaned up but still cannot seem to determine where she might go... Cleaned up the plug i posted in the previous picture inside and out (and around) Truck still wont start in park. Though after removing all this dirt it will go into first gear now(wouldnt before).

Ouch! Looks like you bought someone's mudder. Not sure where that goes, but it probably goes somewhere on the tranny since you are having issues there.

The Park Neutral switch is on the left side of the transmission near where a shaft comes up out of the transmission.
