Default dumps like what?

So I am thinking I am about to put some flowmasters on my truck. I have read that I should go with the 2.25 rather than the 2.5 anyone know anything about dumping it? If I do this will I loose the back pressure? If I do dump it what size pipe should I use?

after a tramatic ebay experience with a "bolt on" kit .. i was forced to dump a flowmaster... grantit,, there was a significant hp gain,, but mainly in the top end.. lost alot of low end tq and with that loss along went my mpg... according to the experts... FI magnum motors along with many other motors... "backpressure" is needed, backpressure isnt all of it though... the right size piping will keep the exhaust gasses hot enough to actually "suck" itself out, that is where the "freeflowing" exhaust really comes into play. havning a nonrestrictive exhaust built correctly to still flow gasses at the right temp and the right velocity to creat a scavange effect to boost HP and TQ. ive seen some, along with a few on this forum, instead of using tailpipes to creat this effect, they used 2 flowmasters to mimic the effects. in theroy using 2 flowmasters to make up for the loss of the required tailpipes... the fellas that use this love it!!! and if you can stand the noise.. well then...have at it..

do a search on this topic through this forum and you will find MEGA amounts of information and knowledge that can help your decision. unfortuanly forums like this is base upon small facts and large opinions witch in the long run is most usefull in deciding what mods and repairs can be should be done to our beloved trucks... and the most important thing to remember....

NEVER BUY A FORD!!!!!!!!

hope this helps!

id use a kit, i think they are tuned for maximum performance...or atleast i hope they are for the amount they cost. I got a flowmaster 50series kit with the stainless dual rear exit tips and its sounds and looks beautiful. I then added a highflow cat to give it that extra kick, and if definatly got it. When its cold you get that hardcore wap wap sound. very loud and lots of fun
