I have major problems with the clear coat coming off my 97 Ram. It looks terrible on the hood and roof. Anyone else having this problem?

 

let me guess,its a dark color?? Your lucky its only Clear so far...there was also issues with the paint seperating from teh primer, called delamination....are you the original owner?

 

My truck has paint delamination in a spots. The primer they used is some toughhard stuff. I don't really have any problems with the clear coat though. The paint looks great in the areas that it's still on the truck. [8D]

I have noticed a trend here with all my cars I have owned. The dark colors absorb all the suns rays and all the heat and tend to fade / peel faster then the lighter ones. I have had 3 white cars and they not only stay cool to the touch in summer but the paint never ever had peeling problems. So add this fact in to the bad paint applying process too.

 

My trucks black too, I had a spot on top of the cab were the clearcoat was peeling. I took it too the bodyshop and they said there was nothing they could do but repaint it.[:@]I really couldn't afford it at the time but I must have done some good deeds because a week later a man backed into my truck while I was parked and still inside the truck. Didn't do much damage but since I know the owners of the bodyshop really well I got almost all of my truck repainted due to the high estimate[8D].....I don't mean to sound sorry but hey thats what insurance is for. He didn't half to pay a dime and neither did I...except for the hood, I had to pay for that, but I got it at cost.

 

Mine has the same problem, Black truck. The paint is almost gone off the hood and the roof. It is just Dodges bad paint, heck look at the white Neons out there, well ok not white anymore all the paint fell off of them. Some people have managed to get Dodge to repaint them, me I am not the original owner I am the 2nd owner so I will have to fork out the money and get it done myself. Oh well some day when I get ahead enough to get it done.
