I know I'm going to sound like Jerry Seinfeld for a moment, but what's the deal with the cruise control on 2nd gen Rams and third gear???

Every 2nd gen Ram that I have ever driven or ridden in since these things were new have had a crazy cruise control setup. When you set it at whatever speed you are traveling and it needs to get back up to speed, it just goes straight past third gear and all the way to second. No ifs, no ands, no buts. There you are traveling along in overdrive when a hill appears. "No sweat," you think. "This puppy will drop down one gear and get over this hill with ease.......HOLY $#!T WHY AM I AT REDLINE?!?!?!"

I'm used to it, but it freaks a lot of people out who ride with me or my friends who have this generation Ram. Is there any way to adjust this? Or are we stuck with it? Just curious.....

Grand Champion
For what little it's worth, mine doesn't do that. It shifts from OD/TCC lock down to third with no TCC lock, does its giddyup thing, then shifts back into overdrive, then locks the converter. Just what one would expect.
