Need help with my 2000
OK guys I got a 2000 Dodge Ram with the 5.9. I just got the trans rebuilt 100 miles ago and now my new torque converter is already going out. But besides that the other day I left it idling while I was waiting on a guy and smelt horrible smell like carbon monoxide or something from exhaust. Developed a slight miss. Only noticeable during idle. But when I got up to 60mph my truck started shaking. Could the shaking be from the torque converter or do u think I need plugs and that is causing all of it? Still pretty powerful. The torque converter is just whining pretty good. Could it be the MAF? Or would y'all lean more towards 02 or clogged cat.

Always the first question...
How's your plenum? |
^What he said. :)
Probably blown plenum, which is fouling your plugs, clogging your cat, and inducing your misfire. If turning off O/D at 60 reduces the shaking dramatically, it's more likely an engine miss, rather than a trans problem. Where did you have your trans rebuilt? Any warranty on it? |

Do you have exhaust leaks?? What does it smell like?
|
That's what I'm trying to figure out lol. I think I figured it out. It's an o2 sensor almost positive. Exhaust smells pitiful. Gives u headaches but it don't do it all the time only when it wants too.

If you are getting exhaust in the cab, time to find where it's coming from.

Sorry I haven't gotten back on here had a death in family. Anyways my exhaust stops where the cab meets the bed. No turn down just straight out. I found my downstream o2 was bad. Replaced it and I got all the stuff for a tune up just had this little delay

Need to fix your exhaust too.....
