Default Plenum gasket symptoms

I have read a little about the plenum gasket weakness. Can anyone tell me what are the ways to tell if you might have a leak without tearing it all the way apart to check?

Do a search in this forum and some common threads will come up. A handheld vacuum gauge will tell right away. I've used propane in a well ventilated, open area to find leaks. Engine rpm rises as soon as the propane is sucked into the leak.
