Default P0740 torque converter

98 ram 1500 5.9. The truck runs good shifts good and shows no signs of problems at all. I just get a pending code of 740. I have cleared it several times it pops up ever other time I take it on any trip. The fluid was dirty and I had it flushed, but once again it just shifts soooon good. 114k on the clock. Only a pending code no check engine light. What should I do?

It means you might want to replace something soon, before it becomes a bigger issue. I'd start with the governor pressure sensor and solenoid. I'd probably also do the OD solenoid assembly. And, you might as well adjust the bands too.

If your trans was flushed regularly, then flushing it again is okay. If you just had it flushed, but it had never been done before, it may have dislodged some debris that is causing or may cause a headache. It usually not recommended on these transmissions.

Sorry...
