Default transmission problem?

Im new to the forum, i was hoping someone could help me with my problem. I have a 1999 Ram Sport automatic transmission. It seems to skip between first and second gear when i first start to drive it. Once it has been going for a while, it doesn't slip or skip anymore. Could this be a major problem? Any info is greatly appreciated.

First, check the fluid level and the condition of the fluid. It should be pink. If it looks or smells burnt you have a problem. You can try changing the fluid and filter to see if this helps. Make sure to use the correct fluid ( ATF+4) If someone has installed an aftermarket tranny cooler and has removed the "check ball" in the line the tranny may be experiencing "air bubbles" from fluid draining out of the cooler when parked. Just let the truck warm up a little bit with the tranny in "Neutral" - not park, to get the fluid circulating before you take off. See if this helps.
