Installed rear back up lights + pics
Got tired to running into the tree by my house when backing up. Window tint was too dark for factory backup lights to be effective.
Heres the pics and a link to more.
If you do buy these take them all apart and silicone each light and the assembly. Since they face backwards you force air in them when you drive down the road. I spent about an hour cutting into my wires and heat shrinking everything only to drive to work in the rain the next day and see water in the reflector. I then took them all apart and used clear silicone to seal the lights and the area it mounts on. They are fricking really bright when I shift into reverse.

Ill post up some of the distance they light behind the truck when it gets warmer here.

Yup they are halo's and its cool the way they are hooked up. You have 3 wires. 1 ground wire. 1 wire that hooks to your back up lights and fires a solenoid in the light housing itself. 1 wire that hooks to your battery. I had a hot 40amp wire in my trailer hitch wiring harness I hooked into. So when you put it in reverse the solenoid fires up and connects the hot wire to the lights. There is a waterproof switch under the back of the lights that has 3 positions. Off to cut out the solenoid altogether. On to bypass your stickshifter if you need to light your driveway without going in the cab and triggering the lights. And then a ready postion - waiting for you to put it in reverse. I would recommend them fully. If you dont mind the look of a black box over your trailer hitch. This far beats the fog lights mounted backwards on the rear bumper option..
cheers..

I've seen those in a mag, but not actual installed and lit on a truck . Nice. I think once I get a trailer to haul the Jeeps, they would come in handy. Cleaner look than the backwards fogs option too. Where did you get them through, and how much? Do the stock reverse lights still work?

Nice lights.....you gotta just hate that tree that keeps jumping out behind you, how many times you hit the tree before you realized it was there...lol.... I have fully tinted windows also, it is difficult to see when backing.
Bought them off of jcwhitney.com and the stock reverse lights still work. Run about 70 bucks if you get them on sale. And you can toggle them off if you choose not to have them lit while backing up.
And the tree is small but annoying and I hit it only after a late flight when my Situational Awareness was turned off!

Sounds like you need a smaller truck or a booster seat
