Recently bought a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 2WD with the V10. Found this forum while trying to figure out the noise from the tranny in neutral and reverse. It's a growling noise like a power steering pump and it's worse when it's cold but it's still there when warmed up too. The fluid level is correct and the fluid looks good. The truck only has 87k on it and it was bought at an state police auction so it's a cop truck. I think it sat for awhile before they auctioned it. It runs great and the motor is tight. Any body else have this same condition? Thanks.
